VOICES

The song VOICES was the beginning of it all. It was the beginning of me opening up to singing and the opportunity for me to show my voice to others.

It all started when my mother asked me to sing to Franklin Esau (he is a Change Agent at SmilingOne and founded the CMD Project) - which I did after a lot of thought. After he had heard my voice he asked me if I wanted to feature in a song that he had written called Voices. I agreed.

It took us long hours of practice to get our tunes, melody, tones and power right. He guided me as to how he wanted me to sing different parts of the song. He also gave me the opportunity to give him advice to certain parts of the song and how I think we could improve on it. He was very open to this feedback and even took my advice. I felt pretty confident about the song. It was really awesome and had a lot of potential to it. The hook of the song which was my part of the song was phenomenal. The hook is the part in the song that is catchy to the audience.

When we went to Cloudbreak Studio with it I became even more amazed by it. Ashton Gardner produced the song and created the whole backtrack to it - he really did his job amazingly. You can feel the vibe of the song and it has got a fantastic beat. I was really stunned at how I sounded - also taking into account that this was the first time that I had ever had my voice recorded professionally. I did not quite know what to think about it, but I liked it. From that moment on I knew that this was what I wanted to do, it makes me feel alive and buzzed and most of all happy.
